SASGO celebrates FORS Silver accreditation

SASGO celebrates FORS Silver accreditation

Back in September we were extremely pleased to be awarded FORS (Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme) Bronze Accreditation, but as a company that always strives to achieve the very best for our staff and our customers, we didn’t stop there. And this April, we achieved FORS Silver - we believe we might even be the first flooring wholesaler to do this, so there is a big thank you going out to our operations team!

So, what does it mean and why is it so important to us?

We mentioned in a previous blog the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) is a voluntary accreditation scheme for fleet operators, who aim to raise the level of quality within their fleet operations, and demonstrate exemplary levels of best practice in safety, efficiency, and environmental protection. FORS Silver now demonstrates our commitment to the construction industry as a whole.

FORS and CLOCS

FORS and CLOCS

The FORS Silver Standard is aligned with CLOCS (Construction Logistic and Community Safety). It is in fact the fleet operator’s commitment to the CLOCS Standard, and it is part a four-pronged requirement shared with regulators, clients, and principal contractors, to ensure that construction sites follow best practices with regards to safety, processes, and environmental obligations.

In their words:

"The CLOCS Standard is the direct result of collaboration between the construction and fleet sectors to address shared issues. It draws together evolving and applied best practice from a number of standards, policies and codes of practice to provide one industry standard that can be implemented by regulators, clients, principal contractors and fleet operators".

What FORS means to us

FORS to US

To us however, it is not just about good practice on-site for those in the industry that look to operators with FORS Silver, it is about ensuring all our customers benefit from the training we have had, and the procedures we have in place.

And from an internal perspective, the whole operation team at SASGO have benefitted from being part of the scheme:

  • FORS has helped our drivers become better drivers, the team actively talk about driving better and ways to reduce fuel consumption, and how accidents are prevented.
  • The training has also given them insights to current transport legislation, staying ahead of this makes the job so much easier. Training can also be a great motivator showing our commitment to our team and to future team members.

So, in our words:

Our operations manager David Ruddy commented on what it means to us: “I will say that FORS Silver has been more of a challenge, but the groundwork was laid through attaining FORS Bronze. It has been an evolution of our core requirements, and all involved have really got on board, because they see real value in what we have been trying to deliver. I am very proud of the team.”
